In 49 states, the three largest insurers held at least 80% of Affordable Care Act exchange enrollment in 2024, the Government Accountability Office found in a report released Oct. 16. GAO says concentrated markets may mean less competition and could affect consumers' choices and the premiums they pay. HHS provided only technical comments, and GAO made no recommendations.
