A federal judge in San Jose has blocked the Pentagon from enforcing a law that bars it from contracting with companies sharing lobbyists with firms on its Chinese military company list, as applied to Alibaba. Judge Eumi K. Lee found the law likely violates the First Amendment and that the government offered no evidence of the risks it cited. Alibaba stays on the list, and the law still covers other listed companies.
