The Republican National Committee sent Michigan county clerks a letter on Election Day saying it had received reports that election inspectors told voters they could not split their ticket after choosing the straight-party option. The Michigan Constitution expressly allows a split or mixed ticket. The RNC says the Secretary of State has taken steps to address the issue.
