Judge Pauses DHS Rule Giving Refugees 10 Days to Contest Loss of Status; Rule Said Agency Could Not Estimate Its Impact
A federal judge in Boston on Tuesday temporarily blocked a DHS rule that cut the time refugees have to respond to a notice of intent to end their status from 30 days to 10. The order runs through Nov. 6 and also shields people who got 10-day notices since Oct. 14. In the rule, DHS said it could not estimate the rule's impact, in part because USCIS had terminated so few cases.
