House Panel Demands Smithsonian Exhibit-Review Records; Inspector General Questioned $36,500 in Women's History Funds Spent on Disputed Installation
Two House Republicans on Wednesday asked Smithsonian Secretary Lonnie Bunch III for records on how the institution reviews sensitive exhibits, setting a Nov. 11 deadline. Their letter leans on a June inspector general report on a Cooper Hewitt installation about homes destroyed by U.S.-made weapons. That report also questioned $36,500 in American women's history funds used for the installation after its concept changed.
