State Department Says Trump Administration Has Revoked More Than 300,000 Visas, Up From 175,000 in August
The Trump administration has revoked more than 300,000 visas since President Trump took office in January 2025, the State Department said, as the New York Post first reported Tuesday.
"With over 300,000 revocations, the Trump administration has revoked more visas at a faster pace than any administration in history," State Department spokesman Tommy Pigott said, according to the Post. "Let the message be clear: we have zero tolerance for foreigners here on visas who break the law, commit fraud, or undermine our national security."
How the Number of Visas Revoked Climbed
The total has climbed fast. In August, the department announced it had revoked more than 175,000 visas, saying most were pulled after "law enforcement encounters," with assault, drunk driving, theft and drug crimes the leading causes. On Oct. 1, it put the number at more than 250,000, The National News Desk reported.
Birth Tourism Revocations
Visas pulled over birth tourism have also risen. The department counted 2,300 tied to birth tourism in the 250,000 figure, The National News Desk reported. A State Department official now says at least 4,000 were revoked from foreign nationals "who engage in or facilitated birth tourism," according to the Post.
Why the Visas Were Pulled
Of the visas pulled in 2025, a quarter were for assaults or related crimes, 22% for driving under the influence, 7% for theft and 7% for drug use or dealing, the Post reported. The nationalities of the people whose visas were revoked were not immediately clear.
