Husband of Tanzania’s president dies while undergoing hospital treatment

Hafidh Ameir Hassan, husband of Tanzanian President Samia Suluhu Hassan, died Monday while being treated for a heart condition at a hospital in Zanzibar. Vice President Deogratius Ndejembi announced the death and said burial arrangements were being made in the family’s native Zanzibar; Ameir became Tanzania’s first First Gentleman in 2021.
