Trump Offers $1 Million to Anyone Whose Voter Fraud Tips Lead to an Arrest and Conviction
President Donald Trump said on Monday that anyone who reports voter fraud, in past elections or in next week's midterms, will be paid $1 million once the people responsible are arrested and convicted.
The offer came eight days before the Nov. 3 midterm elections, which will decide control of the House and Senate.
What Trump Said
Trump made the announcement in a post on Truth Social at 3:31 p.m. Eastern Time. "Anybody reporting Voter Fraud in the past Elections, or the upcoming 2026 Midterm Election, will be paid $1,000,000 upon the arrest and conviction of those that created the Fraud!" he wrote.
Shortly afterward, as he left the White House for a campaign rally in Mississippi, Trump told reporters he was "going to be issuing a million-dollar bonus or reward or whatever you want to call it for anybody that reports voter fraud leading to the arrest and conviction of somebody," the New York Post reported. "We give you, that person, a million dollars," he said.
Trump did not say how tips would be submitted, which agency would review them or pay the rewards, or where the money would come from, according to the New York Post and ABC News. As of Monday evening, no executive order, fact sheet or formal program announcement about the reward had been posted on the White House website.

How It Compares to the DOJ Tip Program
The $1 million offer is separate from a tip program the Justice Department launched last week.
On Oct. 20, the department announced the Fraud Whistleblower Incentive Program, or WHIP, which pays $10,000 to $30,000 for information that leads to criminal charges, rather than waiting for a conviction. According to the department's announcement, WHIP covers federal health care offenses and fraud against programs run by the departments of Agriculture, Labor, Health and Human Services, Housing and Urban Development, Education, Veterans Affairs and War, and the Small Business Administration. The announcement does not list election or voter fraud among the covered areas.
The department said the Treasury Department is committing $25 million to the program and that tips can be submitted at america.gov/fraud. "The Fraud Whistleblower Incentive Program (WHIP) offers everyone the opportunity to be part of the solution, help expose fraud, and be rewarded quickly for their efforts," Attorney General Todd Blanche said in the announcement.
Voter Fraud Cases Ahead of the Midterms
The Justice Department has stepped up election-related prosecutions in recent weeks. On Monday, it announced charges against 48 noncitizens accused of election crimes in five states, after making 16 similar cases public on Oct. 12, the New York Post reported.
Trump has said for years that fraud has affected U.S. elections. Courts and state election officials rejected his claims of widespread fraud in the 2020 election. Reuters reported Monday that critics, including Democratic and some Republican election officials, view the administration's recent election moves as federal overreach, while the administration argues stricter measures are needed to ensure public confidence in the vote.
In the same remarks on Monday, Trump criticized Sunday's presidential runoff in Brazil, which President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva won. He said the election "looked so corrupt, so terrible" and called a two-hour extension of voting "very strange," according to the New York Post.
